TalkTalk, the largest provider of broadband to UK homes, today announces the launch of Magic Desktop, available for free in an exclusive offer for TalkTalk customers. The service allows parents to introduce young children to a computer in a child-friendly environment and encourages families to use the internet safely.
Having previously won awards from the EU government initiative, Safer Internet Day, Magic Desktop features a host of child-friendly applications designed to enable parents to give their children a head start with the internet. Parents can manage the sites their children are able to visit by creating a white list using ‘My First Browser’ and set up a list of approved email contacts in ‘Magic mail’. Children can also build up a bank of points by completing learning exercises that they can then redeem to play games for fun, all included in Magic Desktop. Parents can also add points for doing chores or homework in the offline world.
Sylvain Thevenot of TalkTalk Group says: “We are very pleased to be able to offer this product for free to our customers. Magic Desktop gives children a great introduction to computers and the internet and parents can have peace of mind that they can give their child the freedom to explore but can minimise risks and help children behave safer online.”
TalkTalk customers can download the Magic Desktop application free of charge at www.talktalk.co.uk/magic-desktop. Customers can also choose to upgrade to the premium version that includes over 100 extra games and educational puzzles for a one-off payment of £19.99.
